May 22nd, was Glendale’s Annual Clean Up Day and some of our canyon’s neighbors were out on Mt. Carmel doing their part to help make our canyon look beautiful. Thanks to all our volunteers who pitched in and got their hands dirty.

Canyon K-9’s in all their furry splendor came out to the park with their humans to celebrate at the annual Bow Wow Pow Wow. Organized with perfection by the Hopperts again this year, the annual event brought out our neighborhood’s finest. Awards were given for best costume, best tricks and best time through the agility course. This year, the Pow Wow started in the afternoon for the first time. Let us know if you liked the afternoon start. We love all our canyon pets and it is always great to see them celebrated in this great, annual event.

The Glendale Planning Department will be holding a community meeting on a proposal to establish a special setback ordinance on Hollister Terrace in order to preserve the existing prevailing front yards.
The meeting will be held this coming Wednesday, April 14th from 5:30-7:00 pm in the Glenoaks Elementary School Cafetorium (auditorium). For questions, please contact Chris Baghdikian at (818) 548-2140.

It’s that time of year again. The rains have stopped, the grass is green, and our canyon’s four-legged friends are itching to get dressed up, hone those new tricks, and show off their dexterity and prowess at the obstacle course. That’s right. It’s time for the annual Bow Wow Pow Wow.
This year, the Bow Wow Pow Wow will be starting at a new time: 4pm – 6pm so all those dogs that like to sleep in will have a chance to strut their stuff.
So come on out and join your neighbors and their pets at Glenoaks Park. See you then.

A drive to collect old but usable shoes will begin Jan. 29 and end Feb. 12. The shoes can be recycled into high quality sports and playground surfaces. more…
It’s time for the annual Glenoaks Canyon Disaster Recovery Team meeting. The meeting will be held this Sunday, January 24th, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. The meeting will be held at 2241 E. Glenoaks Blvd.

The consideration of options for preserving the setbacks of properties located along and adjacent to Hollister Terrace will be addressed at the January 19, 2010 City Council Meeting. This issue was to be addressed at the December 15th meeting but has been postponed until January. more…
Two trees will be planted on Tuesday, December 15th in Lower Scholl Canyon park in honor of Don Rector and Sharon Kelly Lee, both long-time residents of our canyon. The trees were donated by GOCHA in honor of Don and Sharon’s dedicated commitment to our community.
The ceremony for Don’s tree, a California Sycamore, will take place on Tuesday at 10:50am, immediately followed by the dedication of Sharon’s tree, a Toyon tree, at 11am. We hope to see you there.
