A Public Informational meeting regarding the Scholl Canyon Landfill will be held at Glenoaks Canyon Park on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 6pm.

This meeting is in regards to a permit revision to incorporate additional perimeter monitoring gas probes located outside of the current permitted landfill boundary.

The Chevy Chase Community Library may soon cease to exist.  Despite promises to make improvements to our library and update its collection, a proposal to transfer it to the Community Services and Parks department and provide “minimal library services” is now being considered by the City Council.  This will spell the end of our community library.

PLEASE ACT NOW.

Officer Sue Shine from the Glendale Police Department will be at Joe Bridges Clubhouse at Glenoaks Park this coming Thursday, May 26th from 6-8 PM to help us set up a Neighborhood Watch Program here in the canyon. Hope you can join us for this important meeting.

The Glendale Police Department is holding an East Command Town Hall meeting on November 3rd from 6:30-8:00pm at Wilson Middle School Auditorium (1220 Monterey St.).

Stop by and participate in the discussion and find out what is going on in the East Command?
•    Meet the Chief
•    Get to know your Area Commander
•    Learn about burglary prevention and what you can do to avoid being a victim
•    Question and answer session with our Traffic Division (Speeding? Parking?  What’s on your mind?)
•    Afterward, enjoy a snack and talk to our police officers one-on-one

Pick up important phone numbers and learn how to start a Neighborhood Watch.

We have just received information advising us that the Glendale Traffic & Transportation Department held a meeting regarding Beeline service in Glendale.  They are recommending that our shuttle into Glenoaks Canyon, Beeline #13, be discontinued. To avoid this loss of transportation, our suggestions are to either continue the current service of  Beeline #13, restore Metro Line 201 service up the canyon or, at a minimum, schedule a short connection to the Metro Line 201 at Chevy Chase and Glenoaks. more…

The Glendale Police Dept. has launched a FREE subscription email program known as “APB Glendale.”   Residents can sign up for police email notifications that will range from up-coming police events to requests for information on crimes and wanted suspects.  This faster system of information exchange helps the public to be safer, and provides the police department with an additional tool in enlisting the public’s help in solving crimes.
