Shakespeare Coming to the Canyon Sunday, June 30th

For the sixteenth year, Shakespeare by the Sea will bring priceless productions of Shakespeare's timeless tales to Southern California communities and we are fortunate to have them come to Glenoaks Park again this year.

This year,  Shakespeare by the Sea presents ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL, a magical comedy about a young woman in relentless pursuit of her dreams. Admission is free.

The play will be performed on Sunday, June 30th at 7pm. Bring your lawn chairs, picnic, and blankets and spend an evening under the stars with your neighbors.

All's Well That Ends Well

Fraud Warning: Be Aware of Phone Scams

One of our canyon neighbors was recently the victim of fraud. She received a phone call from someone who identified himself as her grandson. He claimed that he was imprisoned in the Dominican Republic and needed money. Our neighbor was given the phone number of the American Embassy in the Dominican Republic and the person she spoke to was able to verify the story. She then called Western Union to make arrangements to wire her grandson the bail money. Western Union tried to dissuade her from sending money, saying that there had been many reports of criminal activity in the Dominican Republic. However, despite this warning and due to concern for her grandson, she went ahead and sent the money. Later, when she learned from family members that her grandson was ok, she contacted the Glendale Police Department and learned that many in Glendale are being victimized in this manner. Fortunately for our neighbor, her grandson is safe, but, unfortunately, she lost the money that she sent through Western Union. She is hoping, though, that her warning to you can prevent further occurrences.

Neighbors, be careful out there!

A Big Thanks to Neighbors Who Came Out for Glendale Clean Up Day

beforepitching in Last Saturday, May 18th, was Glendale Clean Up Day. Thanks to all the neighbors that came out and helped clean Glenoaks Blvd. under the freeway and Mt. Carmel. These streets typically get a lot of garbage dumped on them and our canyon looks much nicer now thanks to the volunteer efforts of our canyon residents.

The proof is in the pictures.

Local Artist Seeking Interest in Canyon Art Show

Bud Breaking Poppies at Zaca MesaCanyon resident and local artist, Nancy Wise and her husband Randy are wondering if there would be any interest in organizing a Glenoaks Canyon Art Show featuring artistic talent from our beautiful canyon. A professional artist, Nancy has been creating art for over 45 years and has lived in the canyon with her husband for the last 25 years.

Nancy is trying to gauge what kind of interest there would be in an event like this. If you are interested in possibly seeing something like this in the future, please email Nancy at nancy@winecountryartist.com.

Please note, at this time, this is not a GOCHA sponsored event.
