Glendale's City Manager Yasmin Beers to Retire

Yasmin Beers, Glendale’s City Manager has announced her retirement. The City Manager is one of the most important positions in Glendale government. This is a non-elected position so it is critical that we voice our opinions to city council NOW about the process. The decision on who replaces her will change the landscape of every major issue we face as a city.

The search needs to be comprehensive, transparent and nationwide. We need to move outside the circle of inside options especially at this time of crisis’ that are gripping our state. We need a leader with some fresh blood that has vision, imagination and is open to new solutions to issues our city faces. It includes encouraging new communication between departments as well as with the public. They must respect community leaders input and balance that with internal supervisors. We need to step up as the third largest city in Los Angeles county and lead the charge into the next decade by bringing together our divergent cultural and structural departments that make up this complex city. This is the kind of leadership Glendale wants and needs in these uncertain times. Please push to keep this process public. It’s key to the future of the city.

Please contact city council members to voice your thoughts on this matter.
